Joshimath, the beautiful hill station and a sacred town in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand, is the resting place of Lord Vishnu (Badrinath) in winter months. Narsingh Temple and Garuda Temple are two important sacred attractions. Lord Vishnu or Bhagwan Badrinath rests here during winter as the Idol of Badrinath is transferred to the Narsingh Temple and worshipped here for 6 months. In summer months, it backs to Badrinath Dham. Here, you will see Amar Kalp tree – one of the oldest trees in Indian – said to be here for more than 2500 years with 20 meters of height near Shankaracharya Math.

The beautiful town can be counted as the base camp to reach some of the most charming places and pilgrimages like Auli, Hemkund Sahib, Badrinath and Valley of Flowers. They are the most beautiful and must see attractions in and around Joshimath.

Badrinath

Badrinath is the winter residency of Lord Vishnu or Bhagwan Badrinath. Badrinath Dham (One of the main pilgrimages of Char Dham Yatra) is around 70 km away from Joshimath. For pilgrimages, adventure tour lovers and even all those, who are visiting Joshimath, it is a must visit and highly recommended.

Auli

Recently witnessed a grand wedding ceremony of Indian Origin Industrialists from South Africa, Auli is the most charming skiing resort in Uttarakand. It lures tourist in winter for skiing and powdery snow. Auli is around 16 kms from Joshimath where you can reach by Ropeway too.

Hemkund Sahib

Being the holy pilgrimage destination and a memorial to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the holy place of Hemkund Sahib is visited by a good number of tourists. It is opened in May (Last week) and closed 10-15 days before Badrinath Temple. It is ideal place for trekkers to visit.

Valley of Flowers National Park

Valley of Flowers National Park is another center of attraction to see during your Joshimath tour. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can reach through 38 km round trek by foot or pony. It is worthy to see the destination during rainy season, when flowers are in full bloom. The beautiful valley has more than 300 different varieties of flowers.
