God Of Uttarakhand

When it comes to talk about Gods of Uttarakhand, the topic is counted as incomplete without adding name of Gods in Kumaon Region. You will see different Lord Shiva and Shakti Temples in different parts of this region. People in this region also worship their Folk Deities – the Heroes of Early Time – worshiped through a Peak and with Jagar. You can also see temples of such Fold Deities in different parts. They also worship their Kuldevatas and Gram Devatas. Bhumi Devatas are also worshiped commonly.

Some of the famous temples of Goddesses and Gods of Uttarakhand in Kumaon Region are

• Naina Devi –It is a temple of Paravati Devi in Naitital District.
• Bholanath –It is a temple of Lord Shiva in Champawat district worshiped by locals.
• Nanda Devi –It is also a famous temple dedicated to Green Goddess Nana who came to Himalayas with Indo-Greeks and Kushan Kings.
• Gwalla –It is called as Golla, Golu and Gorilla; while temples are widely available in Champawat Region Chitai Area and Ghorakhal District.
• Gangnath –The famous deity has the same story as Bholanath.
• Airy –Being a God – largely preached by locals, it is similar to God Shani with eye on top of head.
• Kali –Kali Bisht is another Folk deity – idol with Playing Flute and located near Binsar.
• Chaumu –Chaumu is the god and protector of animals. It has temple in Jhulaghat-Pancheshwar. You will see different temples of Chaumu; while the main seat is in Chamdeval.
• Haru –The Temples of Haru ad Saim – the lord of boundaries are together – worshipped in Kumaon Region as in Bhumia, Nagnath, Badhan, Narsingh, Chhurmal, Gabla and Garh Devi.
• Narshingh –There is no any particular Temple of Narshing. According to local belief, Narshingh is not the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to them, there are 52 brave people – included in Narshingh’s Jagar Dondya and Dudho Narsingh are two forms worshiped largely.
• Hanuman –The lord of power, energy and Brahmcharya, Lord Hanuman is worshiped largely in entire Uttarakhand. You can see temples of Hanuman more frequently at different destinations.

  There are different other deities and Lord like Ferinag, Nauling, Nagnath, Bhandari Golla, Badhan, narsingh, Lataul, worshiped on special occasions and with different rituals. Anyari and Ujyali are the famous goddesses worshipped largely in the state.
